Hotmaps Platinum 8 gig Cards
« on: December 15, 2010, 10:11:27 PM »
I am looking to purchase a Hotmaps Platinum SD East card for my 898c SI unit. I noticed on Cabelas.com that they make a note that this card is 8 gig and is for several models, but  mine is not listed. Is this an error? Anything that I need to be aware of in purchasing this card? Thanks in advance for the help!

Even HB don't mention the 8 series in some of their  advertising and info but I do believe that the Navionics platinum and gold cards do work in the 898cx Si . Here in Australia there is hardly a mention of the 8 series HB but this forum has been a HUGE help  ;D

Thanks, Geoff. PS- Australia is on my bucket list! I do hope to make a visit someday.

Check the Navionics web site for compatibility.  It lists the 858 and 898 units as being compatible with the Platinum and Platinum+ Sd mapping cards.

Hi Ilvtfly2, I own a 858 and I investigated the possibility of purchasing a Navionics Platinum card so I visited my local boat shop, phoned Humminbird in Sydney Australia and actually took my unit down to Navionics Sydney office. The guy at the boat shop who is very knowledgable and the boys at Navionics could not get the full functions out of the Platinum card and Humminbird Australia were not confident of total success using the 800 series combos also. But Greg has told me in a previous thread and a guy from Navionics on another forum that it all should work except Turboview. So I'm still confused about it all. I eventually went and bought a Gold card. Cheers Mark
