Hey Guys,

This is my first post so bare with me. I just ordered my 1197!! I can't wait for it to get here. I have a 757c in dash and I am going to RamMount my 1197. My question is will the two units interfer with each other? My 757 uses the thru hull transducer. Also any advice for my first time on the water would be greatly appreciated.

Hello mholladay and welcome to the forum!

Using the two units at the same time might cause interference if you would use both transducer solely for each unit, 'cause both downlooking (2D) sonars use the same frequency.

If you are happy with the 2D picture of your 757 and the high speed readings of it, I would suggest you get a Y-cable for your 1197:

Then you can place your HDSI transducer in a higher and safer position on your transom and get good SI pictures and best high speed readings with your 1197.

The down side of this set up: You cannot use the 757 any more or at the same time with your 1197.
If you want to keep it, then you would need a unit switch in addition to the Y-cable to switch back and forth between the two units:

With this setup you would combine the thru hull and HDSI transducer to one transducer to feed the unit switch and then share this "one" transducer between the two units via the unit switch.

A bit complicated I have to admit, but I hope it helps anyway 

As for going out for the first time:

Leave your fishing gear at home and play around with your 1197 in order to get used to and familiar with it.
A lot of people are disappointed with their new toy because they saw pictures of the side imaging and think it is a plug and play gig they just have mounted to their boat. Taking your time to get familiar with your unit is an investment that will pay off pretty quick.
