Title: 798c SI with interlink to 788
Post by: ontarioskeeterguy on January 03, 2016, 03:10:45 PM
Hi guys
I have a used but new to me 798SI to be interlinked to a 788. I will be installing it ( or getting it installed) this spring. Wondering if someone can point me in the right direction of a 'picture' of how they get connected with a Y cable so I can visualize it better. Is there any way to power up the units to see what software is in there while the units are inside..( I didnt even know they dont get connected to the battery directly but 'spliced' in somewhere?)
thanks for any beginning info :)
Rich

You can use the unit on 110v power by connecting an extra HB PC-11 power cord to a 110v to 12v converter (minimum 1amp output)...

You can find the software version in your unit using the following ...:

*Power on the unit ...
*Press the "Menu" button during the HB splash screen ...
*Choose "System Status" from the 3 choices in the popup ...

this is what i have....788 to interlink; 798 with Y cable (1) to interlink and (1) to GPS; SI transducer from 798 (with dual beam cord 'hanging loose')..does this look right...pic attached ( couple other 'loose' shorter cords )
thanks!

That looks like one of the connection scenarios in the Interlink manual ...(minus the other accessories in the diagram) ...

Are you not using an xducer connected to the 788 ...??

It is recommended to run dedicated wires (+ and -) to each unit with a 3amp blade type fuse close to the battery in the + wire ... 14gauge is recommended = 12gauge is better ...

The GPS antenna should be as close to the xducer as possible for the most accuracy in marking Waypoints ...
