Title: 798ci HD SI combo transom mounting bracket problem
Post by: alwayslearn on August 02, 2015, 05:41:11 PM
Has anyone ever come up with a solution for the plastic transom mounting bracket that breaks, if mounted properly to work at high speed?

The original literature stated this could be used at high speeds.  But if mounted at the bottom of the transom per the instructions, the plastic bracket breaks.  I have replaced two of the brackets and have had to move my transducers up so they no longer work at speeds over about 8 mph.

The last bracket I had to order they were going to charge me for it.  I told them this product was a lemon as designed.  They sent it free.

I see now the 798ci has been discontinued.  It does not display on the Humminbird website and shows the product discontinued by the manufacturer on Amazon.

I didn't find a bracket solution in the forum.  Has anyone had a machine shop make a metal bracket or have another solution?
