This might be a dumb question, but I was wondering,
Can you have your sonar recording ON (i.e. Snapshot & Recording Menu/View > "Start Recording"...) and at the same time record an iTrack? I've never tried it yet for some reason. This would be important when making a recording for AutoChart and fishing at the same time.

Humminbird tech. support told me today that this is NOT possible. You have to stop recording to be able to record/save the iTrack. But the conversation was cut short when their phone lines went down for the remainder of the day (I just can't win with these guys, LOL) so I don't know the details - yet.

That does not sound correct. I have not tried that but there is no reason why. They are two different operations. Just try a short recording and try to save an itrack. Bob

I agree, it doesn't sound correct. Before the phones went down the tech. support rep. admitted to me that she's heard both answers so she wasn't sure. Then she came back on the line after going to the "back room" and said it wouldn't work.
I tell you, there's probably 1 single guy in the entire place (who designed the thing) that really knows how the units work. I mean really really knows the details - which are important. Everyone else just babbles. Some learn a little more as they each try to respond to 500 callers a day.
I get a chuckle when their phone message (or maybe it's Minnkota) says something to the effect "... we have over 100 FAQ's on our website so make sure you listen to those first...". One hundred. Wow. That's just barely enough to cover the basics, which tend to be self explanatory anyway. How about 1,000 FAQ's - then I'd be impressed and maybe inclined to review them in the hopes that something other than trivial information was included there.
And then... wait for it... then... maybe there would be a dramatic drop in phone support calls. Wow, what a revelation!

So today I finally got my Humminbird Select priority phone number and was able to get through to tech. support.
No one there knew the answer to this question. To their credit, they actually tested it and called me back a few hours later. According to Humminbird, YES you can have the Recording ON and also record/save an iTrack at the same time. Which is great news.
