Title: 898hd si and ipilot ilink not connecting

I have a 898hd with 7.090 and my ilink is 1.160.  Under view it shows that i link is not connected so I can't update my software to get them to link.

Everytime it shows connected the humminbird shuts off immediately.

Does anyone have an older software I can try on the humminbird to see if that works?

Or any other thoughts?

Have you tried resetting to defaults, adding the accessory status page view and waiting several minutes before attempting to fire up the motor, waiting several more and then seeing if you can update then?

Restored  factory defaults.  A little box pops up saying ilink connected  as soon as that shows it shits the humminbird down. A couple guys pm'd me on bbc saying to come here and get an older software update for thr 898hd that was compatible with the 1.160 on the ilink.

What was the original software version in your 898 unit when you bought it?  I ask this because loading a software version older than what the unit was originally built with risks bricking the unit (making it as useful as a brick).  Loading any older software into the unit is risky and any failure will result in a needed trip back to the factory which will not be covered under the factory warranty.

I bought it used not sure.  It was bought by the original owner in early 2013. Humminbird sent me 7.080 that didnt work hoping they can send me another one to try.

I sure hope v7.460 gets along OK with the new i-P Link S/W......   :o

You should not need an older version of software to get the newer software for the iPilot Link Controller and Remote to load, so there may be something else going on here but I’m not sure what that could be.  I would call Humminbird Customer Service back again and let them know that was not the solution to your problem.

BTW: older software versions that worked with the 1.160 iPilot Link software were 6.600,  6.610,  6.640  6.740
The Humminbird Customer Service folks should be able to look up the original software version for you by the unit’s serial number.

I sent them a reply to the email asking for 6.7 to see if that will work. They said it was a known problem. Otherwise i will be sending it in

Got 6.740 installed and everything  is talking fine. Now just need to update all of them.
