Title: external antenna
Post by: Allan on January 29, 2010, 08:40:20 PM
Just bought a 1197 and moving my 798 to the bow. It has an external antenna. Is there a minimum distance that the antenna has to be from the unit? I need to have them very close to each other with the available space I have.

Thanks
Allan

No minimum distance. Some have them mounted on a ram mount directly behind their unit.

Allan,

Most of the folks as I understand like to have the GPS receiver as close to the Transducer (over top of) as possible.

Since I have a small 16 ft. boat I have my receiver on my console next to my unit, since I use it for my trolling motor and my transom transducers.
