I have the 997csi which is about 6 months old. I have updated twice, the last being for the new down imaging. I am almost complete. Now I have menu's and settings on my unit but no info in my manual on what they do because the manual came before the updates. Any ideas? Could not find any info from the company web site.

The only thing that you can do is to ask specific questions on each area you have questions and also do a search related to your question.
The problem you are having is not new in regards to update information, Humminbird does a poor job in defining update changes. They do not issue revisions and the down-loadable manuals are not updated.
These forums are the best for sharing information.

I have been searching for a downloadable manual for the 998C SI as it should have menus similar to the updated 997C SI. So far no luck though

I expect it while before Humminbird posts electronic manuals on the new editions. In the mean time you can download the 997c and start reviewing while keeping in mind that there will be some differences. It will still prepare for the unit you are getting.

Thanks guys. I know that sooner or later the company will have to update manuals on the latest and greatest. I just want to find some things sooner not later. I'll pay more attention to the forums which are great. I just hate to see a menu item on down image like "super wipe kill" and have choices of "live or die" and not know which to choose.

I understand and feel the same way.
I do not understand why HB doesn't keep the latest manual versions on their site. Someone there is dropping the ball in customer service. After all as they make the improvements they must update their manuals on their computers, how hard could it be to swap manuals on their site to the latest version, this is not rocket science.
