what do i need to download info from my 898 to my Mac Book laptop?? new to all this and waiting to get my 518 with 898's so i can start educating myself

You can only view snapshots on a MAC.  Im on your same boat.  Windows based PC is better to view video and organizing waypoints ect...

You will need a regular (not mini or micro) sized SD or SDHC memory card to get the data out of your unit.  Your Mac would need an SD/SDHC card reader.
