Title: 998 doesn't work when it gets hot
Post by: SkeeterMatt on June 11, 2011, 11:04:16 AM
My new 998 loses depth and shows 1 ft. after it has been in the sun for a while. If I turn it off to reset it, it won't turn back on until it cools off. What gives? For 1800 bucks it should be able to withstand the Texas heat.

Skeetermatt

Are you getting enough voltage to the system?  Starving for voltage can do some funny things to electronics.

Where is the unit placed to get it hot?  How hot is it getting?

I had it installed last spring and it worked fine. The last two times I've been out it has been in the upper 90's and it started acting up. It's mounted to the side ofthe drivers console on a Skeeter sx190. It doesn't feel hot to the touch other than what you would expect a black unit in full sun to feel like. I will make sure my power supply didn't get jolted loose . Thanks for your reply.

Skeetermatt take your power connector off the back of the head gently spread the pins
and plug it back in. And let me know. Gary
