Need some expert advise on 898 to Helix 9 integration
« on: April 28, 2016, 12:55:09 PM »
OK, here goes. I have 2 - 898's installed at the console, a helix 9  DI Gps at the bow and ether net AS ETH 5 PXG switch connecting the three units. I also have two temp sensors (one to each live well) one connected to the helix 9 and the other connected to one of the 898's. Additionally i have  a terrova with i-pilot link and two Gps external pucks ( one with heading sensor) installed as well. I have the transducer that was included with the Helix 9 installed on the foot of the trolling motor and the internal transducer in the terrova connected to the ether net switch. On the stern I have two XHS 9 HDSI 180 T transducers installed side by side. My question after all of that is what is the the best way for me to integrate all of this. And is it ok for the transducers on the stern to be installed side by side?

U have a few things going on here.  Let's start simple.
Having 2 hdsi ducers mounted at the back is not needed.  Has zero advantages to you.  Only potential advantage would be if one failed.
One GPS pick for each of the 898s. The heading sensor one I would hook up to your "main" one.  I would mount both as close as possible to the transducer u intend to use for autochart live.  Or u could put one in front. One in back.  In your network u can choose which one the graph sees.
External temp sensors just plug into pig tail of GPS if I'm correct.  So one for each of the 8s

Pretty straight forward.   Te ability to choose signals in the network settings allows you to pick whatever u want.

Not familiar with link I didn't know the us2 was part of the Ethernet system.
So if that's the case it must use the one cable for both link and ducer.  I would  run your helix 9 do ducer on the trolling motor mount if you want. I've never liked imaging ducers on trolling motor for my type of fishing. But many do.
With all systems networked the will all be side imaging units.  Sharing one ducer from the back.

And be sure to load the current software for your 8s.  They will share their SI data with helix and it will become an SI unit.   Probably could have just bought the basic sonar GPS.  And saved some cash but that's a moot point.  Another thing is u could not install the the di ducer on your terrova. But instead install the extra hdsi on terrova.  Then u would have one hdsi to 898 and the other to your other 898. Then just choose that adv sonar option on your helix. Boom. Side imaging on the front graph and terrova

If you have a cable from the Terrova connected to the AS ETH 5PXG ...that would be the Ethernet iLink cable so that the HB unit can talk to the iLink in the Terrova ...
