gpss turning off
« on: August 02, 2012, 05:57:33 AM »
hi i upgraded to the latest software on my 1197 csi unit after about 1 hour the gps stops working, if i turn the unit off and on, it resets fine, then 1 hour later the same problem.
i am recording the side scan to sd card at the time on a 15 mb/s ultra scandisk if i put a higher speed card 95 mb/s the system stops a 30mb/s the system jerks.
i did not have this problem last season is it the upgrade?

If you are not recording does it work ok?
We use a 2mb and record for 30 minutes and it is ok.
We are at the current software level..

I mistyped.  we are using the 2gb cards.  Without a problem.
Our code is the 6.3

Are you using waypoints on a card?

Try updating  the unit 6.180 messed up a lot of units. The newest update fixed a lot of 6.180 problems.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I must say again:
Fully charge and load test your battery.

According to your post, your battery is a year older from last season.
Intermittant problems are often associated with the power supply.

12.8 only means your battery has adequate voltage.
It doesn't mean it can carry a load for any length of time.

Your voltage may be dipping down too low to run all of your
accessories, but still be enough to keep the unit on.

Also, check your power connections.
A small bump every once in a while could cause a lapse
in power.
