i want to mount the transducer via an magnetic plate on my boat. Is this an problem, because the transducer will not work
under the influence of an magnetic field ?  ::)

I have no idea Tom.  I don’t think that it will harm the transducer but I certainly would keep that magnet away from the unit itself!

What sort of magnet do you want to use Tom?
Propably some strong magnet like the "Seasearcher" (http://www.nauticalia.com/uk-info/products_in_action/sea_searcher_recovery_magnet/3101.html)?

My feeling is that it shouldn't affect the transducer from the electrical side as long as it is a static magnet that doesn't change its magnetic field.
As Greg already mentioned: Since it has to be a very strong magnet to keep the installation in place, keep it away from the unit head. That might hurt the interior electronics of the unit.

Good luck
Harry

Does the magnetic field have any influence on the signalquality?? Maybe a very stupid question, but when I have been scanning an specific area of the seebed, I get poor signal/picture quality. The ground in this area is full of iron and its wery magnetic. The compass gets really wild in this region, turns over 90 degrees. Thers also an closed ironmine under the seebed. So there is wery strong magnetic fields.

Just wonder.. ::)  Kimi..

there are transducer suction cups just for tempory mounting.  I have two of these and each works fine.  even in higher speeds.  chuck
