Title: Help With Transducer Mounting Mounting On New Lund
Post by: iowafuzz on May 11, 2012, 11:36:11 PM
Purchased a new 18 ft. Lund Alaskan and would like to know location where you placed your transducer on the transom of a similar boat?  The Lund has 1. a drain plug slightly protruding and 2. a drain with a rounded screen that protrudes about an inch beyond the transom right in the middle keel area which is the lowest part of the transom.  With these obstructions, it would seem to make it difficult to place the transducer with side imaging on the same even plane or slightly higher than these obstructions.  Or maybe it isn"t a problem because these obstructions would only be slightly lower than the same plane of the transducer bottom and not interfere.  I would welcome any and all comments on what you think or did (placement) to make your transducer work properly with similar problem on your boat.

Thanks,  Iowafuzz

I have an older model 16' Lund and a 998. I'm in the process of redesigning my transducer mounting.
Originally had it mounted directly to the transom. Worked OK. I think I have a better idea.
Because I have from one to three people on-board, keeping the transducer level is a problem.
My current brainstorm looks good on paper. I'll let you know how it works on the water.
Also will check the local Lund dealer for a 18' Alaskan. Not sure how much "V" in transom. Mine is flat across back.

Didn't make it to the dealer before he closed. Alaskan is sold or in the show room. I'll try again later.
