Hi,
Has anyone dismantled a HB 360 imaging? I have plans for a sector scan gear and the 360 could be a good platform. However, from screenshots and other sources the rotating array seems too short resulting in a wide beam. I would like to install a better (=longer) array and need information on how the 360 is constructed. Images of a dismantled 360 would be most helpful.

what software will you use for the rotating array?
I went ahead and built a rotating scanner as per DR depth 360 instruction froam a few years ago
but company was sold before I could get a copy of the XTOOLS set to run the unit I too am interested in making my own 360 scanner operational ...just need software for the polar display

Thanks, I should have thought of the patent file myself. Very interesting and helpful document! It should be possible to make a wider housing to accomodate longer arrays. The housing contains oil. I suppose one needs a specific oil that doesn't dissolve the components. And can the stepper motor move larger/longer transducers arms through the oil? I understand I need to think this over more than twice. Also, I want to immerse the gear close the sea floor so it must withstand high pressure.
Dave, I will use a Humminbird head unit that is compatible with the 360. I would ask around for a copy of the XTOOLS. ....or write your own control program for your computer.... If Per could do it, why can't we do it? ::)

rickard not sure but I think that may be over my head to write software?
i looked at a script from national instruments (PI.vbi ) for polar display ...but didn't know where to start
so further to the last post is there anyone out there that has a copy of DR DEPTH XTOOLS to share???
so I can complete my project..

take it apart?

Probably no one would. My mind is infected by vanity and dreams about tweakings. That's why I always find myself entangled in this type of plans. :)

I have a question, what type of oil is the 360 transducer filled with.

Here are some images from my 360. I have 140' cable added. With more bells and whistles, in a better software package, you can get some great images and things like gps and size of target.
The first image is of divers in trees in a deep Ky lake, There will also be a blow up of the divers. Another pic will be structure at the bottom of the Pearl River (La /Ms) There is also a side-scan of the Pearl River image

what software package do you use where can I get a copy....?

This is, nothing more then, the 360 software. The divers pic came out nice because I was hanging the transducer (while anchored on both ends of the boat) at 60'. The divers were at 120' and moving. Playing with speeds, sensitivity, etc is the key. Hbird has a basic software package because this is meant for fishing. If there were a program to know where the transducer is, the gps antenna and the target, it could calculate the exact (pretty close) location of the target. It could also measure the target. All of this is available on the Konsberg Mesotech scanning sonar. which I think this is based off of the early models of the KM model. If someone could find, or write, a program with more options you can do some great tings with it. I can find bodies with mine. Sometimes you get just a spot and other times more. Drownings in a last known location can be found more quickly than with side-scan. ou can also put divers on comms and direct their movement with this standard package. Here is a pic of divers and swimmers (people) in a pool last summer. My 360 was mounted against the side of the deep end of the pool. The dots or spots are swimmers and divers up to 75' away. Another pic is sheet piling with a diver on only a hose to portray a drowning victim.
