997 GPS issue on Gville Lake
« on: June 12, 2012, 04:19:14 PM »
I have a 997 with just the factory base maps..... When I go back into some creeks on Gville for instance North Sauty the lake map just disappears and it just shows land where there should be water.   Its basically cutting a good portion of the creeks out.  From about mid creek back its just not there.  Anybody else had this issue???

That is the limit to the map data that we bought and installed in the 997 units.

Only way to see more map data up the creeks would be to buy a Navionics or LakeMaster mapping card that has this data – I do not know if either do, so check on this before buying a mapping card.

Thank you for the reply.......  The image of the backs of these creeks actually show up sometime, then if i zoom out or in the creek disappears and it will just randomly re-appear everyonce in awhile.   I never have this problem when i'm on the main lake....it always occurs when i get back into a creek.  I will be buying a navionics chip very soon so i wont have the problem anymore, I've just always wondered why it does it.  Thanks again Greg

I think that I might like to see a map run on my unit before I would purchase one. It may work or it may not.  Ask a store for a demo if you can find one that will help you..Or another member who has the chip..

Sounds like the creek data may be on one map hex but not another.  You happen to be moving from one map hex area to another and this is why it shows up and disappears.

I would check to see that the creek data is on the map card you are buying.  Testing it out on your 997 unit (or having someone else look for you) is smart shopping.
