two units at once
« on: February 25, 2014, 11:26:58 PM »
I've read where some folks have one unit on their console, and one on their trolling motor. Can you have two units on one boat with two transducers operating at the same time without them interfering with each other? Thanks in advance.

If both units are putting out a ping at the same frequency you will get cross talk. If networked with ethernet both can display the same transducer therefor eliminating the cross talk. In less than 20' deep you probably won't have any problem with cross talk.(has to do with the cone diameters overlapping)

It also has to do with how sonar reflective the bottom of the lake/river is as well.

Basically, there is no way to guarantee that you will or will not get sonar cross-talk (interference) if you have more than one unit transmitting and receiving on the same frequency(s) on the boat at the same time.

If you try this and see sonar cross-talk; try turning on and up the Noise Filter menu.
