Title: 898 waypoint problems
Post by: Irishrover on March 12, 2012, 12:20:25 PM
I just installed my new 898c SI Combo on my trolling motor and loaded the new 6.180 software updates successfully. Next I connected the 898 w/my 997 via the Interlink and it works perfectly. The 898 accepted all of the 997 waypoints...so I figured I'd check out some waypoints on the 898. I scrolled down to waypoints and after the 1st waypoint number, the whole unit powered down. I tried this 2 more times and got the same results. Now I will say I haven't purchased my Lakemaster Wisconsin chips because I'm waiting for version 3 to be released. But I should still be able to go to my stored waypoints on my 898 because it has built in maps. So am I wrong & I need a chip in the unit or is there something wrong with my new 898? So does anyone have any ideas?

You are like the 3rd person I have seen talk about their 898 shutting down and rebooting itself after uploading the new update. It looks like it might have something to do with guys that have 2 units interlinked.I would try your 898 alone and see what happens ,if it does

turn out that the new update has a bug that is affecting the 898's you might think about downloading the previous software until HB can fix the problem in the new update...
