Title: Making a Hydro map
Post by: Dryberry on April 26, 2010, 09:50:39 AM
Hi all,

Here's my question. Can I take the data I obtain on the Humminbird 898 marking depths via bread crumb trail and transfer that information to my PC. Using that information make a somewhat accurate hydrograpic map?

I hope this isn't a stupid question?

You sure can.   Something that the humviewer program can do is to export the recording to a .csv file type.  With that file you can import the information into several mapping programs.  3DF or Dr Depth.  Great maps will follow.

Great!

Thank you Chuck. I've got 1200 acres and about 12 small lakes that I can access with my boat. It would be nice to put a map together for each.

Great, now you have to get on the water and get going.

Here is a recent map of about an acre.   These are called bathymetric maps.
This can be shown in a 3d format also.
