Title: Hlx 10 - update to version 2.760 does not work
Post by: emerles on December 11, 2022, 04:17:50 AM
I have a HELIX 10 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N and have updated the firmware to version 2.280 and also updated the basemap to version 1.031.
A few weeks ago, I tried to update to version 2.750.
The device did not recognize the update file.

Now I tried to install version 2.760. This did not work either.
I reset the device of course (restore defaults).

When I insert an SD card with version 2.280, the device displays the message "Update File Is Invalid".
So the device does recognize the update files.

Does anyone have any idea what else I could do?

regards

Wolfgang

I don't have a Helix, I have a Solix and Apex units.  In the past I have experienced a similar problem when upgrading.  What I did that worked for me was I downloaded the software into a separate file on my desktop computer. I then unzipped the file.  I then reformatted my 32k card before copying all of the unzipped files from the desktop file.  I think the key for me was the reformatted card.  Upgrading can always be an adventure and a challenge. Good luck.

And also please verify you are downloading the version for your exact unit and model number  ...

Update files are unit specific  ...

Formatting the SD card was the solution.
All updates worked without problems.

(Btw, fast format is sufficient.)

Thanks to 9Phil for the solution.
And also thanks to Rickie for the fast responce.

P.S.: maybe it would be wise to add this information to the Humminbird update instructions.
