Title: My first SI unit
Post by: stratos_185 on March 28, 2010, 09:02:10 PM
I bought my first humminbird SI unit after getting rid of my 2 HDS 7's and I really like it.One thing that stood out is the regular sonar is way better than anything ive seen.Im pretty amazed at the SI and DI to.But my reason for posting is to get some input on how I need to adjust my SI and DI to get the best picture.I passed over a couple of small trees that I put out and could find them easly with sonar/DI but they were sort of faint on the DI.I couldnt make anything out on the SI.Then I went over one of the few pieces of standing timber in the lake and made it out very clearly on all 3.Does it have to be a pretty big object to make it out clearly on the SI/DI?I am very pleased with my new humminbird units.

One thing I have come to realize is that brush is 90% water soaked which makes it not show up as well as some other "harder" objects...

If you view your recordings in Humviewer you will see brush better than trying to see it on the unit....

stratos,

Welcome to the forum.  Picking up brush can be hard sometimes.

What freq were you using on the SI?  Fresh or salt water? How fast were you going?

Here is a good post to read to get started. http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=333 (http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=333)

Post some snapshots if you have any.  It will help us see whats going on or not going on I should say!

Good Luck,

Robert
