798ci hd v 6.250
« on: April 04, 2012, 06:25:28 PM »
New file added to the 798 ci HD folder.
The folder contains both the long name 9dc04..... and the 6.250.bin

Chuck, do you know or is there a place to find out what this update does for the 798ciHD? Just got my 798 a couple weeks ago and it
has not to date even been hooked to a transducer. Since this is the case I have a question- the humminbird "update" video shows to have
the unit powered on and then insert the SD card with the new F/W on it and the unit will recognize the card and ask if you want to update.
In my situation, in turning on the unit would I go to "normal" startup before inserting card even tho there is not a transducer hooked to the unit? I'm quite sure you don't want to be in "simulator" mode. Little confused..
Thanks, Gerry

Not sure of what all is in the update. HB does not always tell what is fixed or changed.
I would venture a guess and say something to do with waypoints.  but just guessing.

It is suggested that after restoring defaults you turn off the unit. Insert the sd card containing only the update and turn on the unit.
Wait until the process is finished. Dont be in a hurry for this to finish quickly...
Turn off the unit, remove the card and power on. then set your customized settings. Remember that views will be default so every thing you set will have to be redone.
