ALL SI Models - Screen Info / Placement and Size
« on: July 29, 2010, 05:57:17 PM »
Model:
ALL SI Models
Suggested Upgrade:
Screen Info / Placement and Size
Explanation:
I would personally like to see the following changes for the 898 with some type of software download.

First, I would love to see a software update to change the location of the readouts from the side to the bottom, making it to be able to choose your best choice.

I would also like to see changes made on the read out information.  Making this information in a smaller area as well as smaller numbers and print to give as much screen room as possible for the sonar.

In other words, have it where if you select no readouts...the screen would be totally what your seeing under your boat.  Also, have the option of moving from the side to the bottom and also being able to downside the readout numbers and information.

I think many would like these changes.

Jut thought I would give this suggestion.

Thanks

Model:
898c
Suggested Upgrade:
Select Readouts Visible on Bottom of Screen
Explanation:
At this point in time, the select readouts like depth, speed, lat/long, time, voltage, etc... can only be viewed on the left hand side of the screen. It would be nice if you had the option to put the select readouts on the bottom of the screen. This would save screen space... For example, in the regular sonar view, there is usually a little space below the bottom depth that is free space not used. Also, when viewing side imaging the information at the top and sides of the screen is much more important that the bottom of the screen. By the time it reaches the bottom of the screen, you have already seen the data. This will allow you to use the entire width of the screen to be able to see more options on your screen.

Thanks for looking into this...

Same here.  I would like to have more usable screen out of my 898's, the digital bar on the left drives me nuts.   Allow me to pick and choose what I would like displayed for info if any.  It would also be nice if the back ground was clear revealing the image below the numbers.

It would be cool if we could move the numbers to the 4 corners and have the text size selectable and transparency adjustable.

Joby Smith (from Humminbird) posted the following message on Crappie.com web site on 12/20/2011:

Humminbird 2012 Software Release Removable Readouts for 898/999 Side Imaging Units.
You will have the ability to remove the readout boxes on the Left side of your Side Imaging View and now have the depth and the temp displayed at the bottom of the screen. Now you can maximize your viewing area for Side Imaging. This software will be released in January for the 898 and the 998.
