997 HELP
« on: January 17, 2011, 04:55:52 PM »
Hello, I went fishing yesterday put the boat in the water and turned on the unit. It loaded fine and went to the sonar when all the sudden there was a few white lines at the top then the screen froze and went white. It does the same thing everytime you turn it on. I tried it on another boat thinking maybe it was a wire or something and same deal. This will be the second time I had to send this thing back becuase of the computer. I know its getting expensive for what I paid for thing you would think it would last.

Nope, I never use one. It has the nvb and I don't take pics. Wish I did that I saved my waypoints on though. Last time I lost them and I guess I will this time also.

OK, have you tried the Robert trick of slightly bending the connection pins at the unit ?  You can use the search tab on bend and get a bunch of hits.
Although I am leaning towards a bad unit (again) ... :-\

Yeah tried that, I also tried another power source and different plugs all with the same result. Does anyone know if they will give me credit and let me upgrade to the 1198. I am fed up with having to pay 260 every year.

Sorry to hear you are having issues.  I doubt they will issue any credits.  I have never heard of them doing this but see what HB support has to say.  Even in you have to pay again to have it fixed, you can easily get more than what they would probably credit you for it.

A used 997c should easily sell for $1000 or more.

Good Luck,

Robert
