Title: 999ci HD won't turn on
Post by: ffdonnie on October 28, 2016, 10:30:00 PM
I have a 2 year old 999ci. It has been working great until today. I went out to go fishing today and it would not turn on. When I got home i check the battery and the cabled. The battery was showing 12.5 volts. The wiring showed the same. I also had 12.5 volts before and after the fuse. I had 12.5 volts at the cable Connection to the unit. I would press the power button. There would be a quite beep and the unit would not turn on. I also connect it to my trolling motor battery and still would not power on. Any suggestion on what is wrong.

You can remove the cables from the plastic collector and try plugging the power cable directly into the back of the head unit ... sometimes the collector doesn't give a positively good connection of all the cables ...

Do you know anyone that you can crosstest your head unit on their boat ... ??

And of course here's HB customer service ...

Same thing happend to me last week. 999ci HD SI, bought new with a new boat in Spring 2014. It just failed. 2.5 years old but only 70 hours of use. Pretty poor reliability for a $1,500 unit. Humminbird now wants a flat $322 plus tax to repair it. I would not recommend this brand after this experience. Was always kept covered when not in use, etc. Disgraceful.....
