Topic: 6.180 Update For Single Unit

I  read the Posts below about the 6.180 updates and they all have to do with sharing way points and using a eathernet connection between two units. I am just using a single 898cSI unit. I have the 5.410 update on it now and was going to update it with the 6.180 right now but after reading the problems people are having I am not sure if I should do it now or wait till all the bugs are out of it. My unit works fine and I hate to cause a problem but really want that update. This will be my third season using it and have logged 706 hours on it and really love it. Just wanted the Pro's here opinion on this topic for a single unit. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Joe

I do have a single unit 898 with the original new 6.180 update which works fine but something changed at HB website available downloads.
 Being aware of the problems with the current update for the 898 from HB website I would wait until HB has sorted out the problems with the available update which is 1197 not 898 as it was called when it was first available.

Alone, the 24% greater usable screen  ( SI mode ) is reason enough for the update.

I have been make updates on my 1197 since 2009 without any problems. 

I always restore the defaults on my unit before updating my unit.  You should not have any problems.

If you have a problem you can always reload the older version software which you can find on this site.

I have an 1197 stand-alone unit and I recently did the update.
It seems fine.
I haven't taken it on the water yet though.

ITG....check the contour setting on off.  see if you have any trouble setting it..

Dont know why mine does what it does..

Well I will try the update later today and we will see. Thanks for All the help. This unit for the most part has been trouble free and it is just used on small lakes mostly so it dosent see a lot of ruff use. Keep up the great job you do here we all depend on you guys for honest answers and quick fixs to keep us on the water. Hollywood
