598Ci HD SI Combo not powering on
« on: June 13, 2014, 12:43:33 PM »
My unit will not power on.  When I push the power button, the screen changes to a dark black (maybe back light starting), when I release the power button the unit turns off and does not boot.  The screen appears to wash or wipe away. I have a 345c unit in the front of the boat, if I move it to the console connections, where the 598 is connected, it works fine. The 598 does the same thing in either location. Any thoughts on the the best way to take care of this is.

Welcome to the Humminbird Side Imaging Forums MadTownGator.

It sounds to me like something in the 598 unit has failed and the unit will need to be returned to the factory to be fixed.  Normally I would say to check al the electrical connections for any that are loose or corroded but you tested another unit on the same mount and the 598 unit on the other unit’s mount, so I think you ruled out any wiring or power issues to the unit.

BTW: I didn’t know they had “Gators” in Wisconsin?

Thank you.  Thats what I suspected and have reached out to customer service. The unit was purchased in April of 2013, so I'm not far past my warranty.  I'm not too keen on spending $260 for service/repair, but I suppose thats my only option.

FYI: Gator is my old video game handle, which I've modified because "Gator" is usually taken.  However, I have heard folks call Muskies gators and we have plenty of those in Wisconsin.  :)
