1198 and 1158 trouble with navionics platinum north card
« on: May 18, 2014, 09:16:46 PM »
Hey guys this has probally been talked about before but I would like to ask if anyone here has a remedy for this.I have an 1198 and 1158 with the latest downloads they work great but I am having trouble with my navionics platinum north card in both units. When you zoom in you lose data and zoom out you loose data you have to find the happy medium zoom level. And when you scroll around it goes white.Theres a youtube video explaining it better than me.Is there a fix for this software issue with navionics or bird,or am I outta luck. When I say lose data I mean screen goes white. Thanks a lot for any advice.

Welcome to the Humminbird Side Imaging Forums Derek.

Could you please conform the software version you have on each unit?

Derek,
Well those are certainly the current software versions for both units.  Is this Platinum map card one of those that can be updated and if so, have you done this recently?
Did the Platinum card ever work right in either of these units?
It is sounding like the data on the map card may have gotten corrupted somehow.

Hey Greg yes the card is 2013 and yes I downloaded freshest data when I bought it last year.Just afraid to spend money on upgrading the card for no fix.I contacted Navionics yesterday and they told me to delete all the community edits and certain files that ended in ucg uk.Did that to to no avail. What do you reccomend downloading freshest data to my Navionics card or go back a download on my 1158?Thanks Derek

Oh and not sure if it ever worked before I got these units late last year and I fish 100 miles from this spot where the maps are white.

I would try updating the Platinum card again to see if it helps and then contact Navionics if it doesn’t.
You can check the maps from where you are at by zooming out and moving the cursor over to that area and zooming in.

prov275,
You may want to check with Navionics to see if this area is even covered by those map cards.  I tried searching the lake lists on the Navionics web site for Platinum North and Premium North map cards and only found that they listed Grand River and Sturgeon Bay for Lake Michigan.

No Greg it works just fine just 2 zoom levels don't work .1 nm and .25 nm in this certain area of the bay I can run from garden bay at .25 I get half way thru the bay and it goes white I half to zoom in to .5 or 1000 nm to get my data back.it worked perfect in my lowrances gen 1 hds 10s.

Oh, I did not understand that it would show if zoomed in closer but just not at those certain zoom distances.  It would be best if you called the Humminbird Customer Resource Center folks and report this so that it can be pushed up chain of command/reporting.  Be sure to state what chart zoom levels it does and does not work at.
