Can I just move the curser over my lake from my yard and get the Navionics info or do you actually have to be in the lake?

Yes you can see it from your yard.

Easiest way is to zoom out.....zoom further depending on how far away the lake is....move the cursor around to find the lake and zoom back in.

I have set up my system to use it in the house it make it easier sitting on the couch or kitchen table to play with the unit and to look at the various lakes.

I probably have went a little further then most, I have set up my unit to run off a power converter, an extra GPS and a transducer to run all of the feature in the house.

This way I can run a computer training video while running the HBSI unit.  Nothing is better then being on the lake, but it is nice to make set up changes and then take it to the lake and try it out.

If you have not when to Doug Vahrenberg's site ---> http://www.dougvahrenberg.com/Videos.html (http://www.dougvahrenberg.com/Videos.html)  <--- you should try it, there are lots of videos and a 9 part seminar (halfway down the page) that will help with getting the most out of your unit.
