Saving Screen shot with navionics Chip installed
« on: July 19, 2010, 09:50:16 AM »
I recently installed the Platinum version of the navionics chip in my 1197si Combo and noticed that is will not save images of screen when I "mark" a location. If I remove the Navionics chip it works fine. Anyone know if this is common or a way to continue to save sreeen shots with the chip installed?

ben2kona,

You do have a blank SD card in the other slot right?  You cannot save snapshots to the Navionics card.

If so, flip flop them, put the Navionics Card in the other slot and the blank SD in the other and see what happens.

Robert....

Thanks for the reply. I do have a blank SD card in the left slot and the Navionics card in the the right slot. I will change them around tonight and see if that makes a difference. Right now if I see something on the screen that I want to capture, I open the SD door and pop out the NAV card and it will save to the SD card.

Brian,

I agree the SD card slots that HB uses on the units are not the best that I have seen.  I hope that upgrade the SD slots on future units...

Somewhere in the manual or online I read that the Navionics chip should be in the left slot and the blank SD card in the right.  That is the way mine are installed and I have no problems with taking snapshots.

I switched my cards and I still can not save the screen shot until I eject the Navionics chip. Then it samve perfect from either slot. Weird. Time to call HB, i guess?

Before you call make sure that you are running the most recent software update in your 1197c Si unit (version 4.950).  I don’t know of any fixes in the software for this sort of thing but it will be easier for someone to try and duplicate what you are experiencing if you are running the latest software version.
What year and region Navionics Platinum card?
What brand and size SD card are you using?

Greg,

The file that I loaded on my 1197 unit is "M1197.4_750". I assume that is version 4.750? Not the latest. I will check the Navionics chip tonight and the SD card.

Thanks for the help.
