Birds Eye View

I've got a 997ci Combo NVB. After reading through the manual a few times, I've got a question on the different screen modes like Birds Eye View. I'll look at it and still don't know what this views for.

Some like to see their route in more of a 3d view. That view seems to hang a little on my 997 at times, so I think I'm going to make it not visible. I never use it anyway.
