Title: AutoChart LIVE for none ONIX units
Post by: Beaulieu80 on August 04, 2015, 09:00:20 PM
Hi,

I just see that from the AutoChart help document that we can do LIVE mapping with cables connected to a regular PC and do auto mapping LIVE!

for my 798ci HD SI i need 2 cables to make it happen:

-Humminbird AS EC CHART Ethernet Converter Cable
-Humminbird 720074-1 AS EC QDE 700 Series Ethernet Adapter Cable

on more none ONIX unit can directly use AS EC CHART cable to a PC.

I thinking of ordering them soon

Is Humminbird going to have WiFi so we can chart live using devices like iPad?

WiFi require too much power for what it gives.

you may think of Bluetooth instead. lighter and have lot of data transfert potential, but they may not do so. this may open their units for hacking software and less profit on their option product

Lowrance and Raymarine now have WiFi models that enable live charting on iPhone or iPad, cheap way to have a chartplotter.

I've got the cables I need also, I just need to get AutoChart installed on a laptop and try it out.  Who know when that will be.  Let us know if you get up and going with this.

Thanks!
