Title: Solix Cable Wiring?
Post by: DennyO on March 20, 2019, 12:19:08 AM
I'm purchasing both of the new units and will be setting them up in the next couple of weeks or so.
SOLIX 15 CHIRP MEGA SI+ G2 Item # 411050-1
SOLIX 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ G2 Item # 411030-1

I believe that the cables I currently have in my boat that were for a 1198 and a 998 csi's will not be of any use for the new Solixs. Currently I have both core transducers wired in with the splitter for L and R SI (I have an I/O out drive). That resolved my shadowing issue. Then a splitter for the high speed ducer (took care of loosing bottom issue). and then the cable heads up to my dash unit.

Obviously the core SI ducers will not work, but my question is, I believe the "Y" cables are different too? What about the high speed ducer and it's "Y" cable?

My search says it is all scraped and unusable with the new Solix. I've had issues with bottom contact when I had the original first SI (987 was it? I can't remember that far back) until I installed the high speed ducer and that totally resolved my issues.

I don't seem to find one for the new Solix units. Are they needed for depth readings? DO any of you have the correct cable numbers that I will need?

Splitter Cable for use with L&R transducers:  14 M SILR Y
Y Cable for use with in-hull transducer:  14 M SIDB Y

The new in-hull Dual Spectrum transducer:  XP 14 HW

Thanks, I should have mentioned that my boat was a tin Lund so no in hull ducer works for me.
This is the area I can't find information on, do they make a high speed ducer for the new CHIRP MEGA SI - Gen 2 Solix models? If so what splitter goes with it?

What were you using before for the high speed depth readings  and where transducer mounted?  I'm also not sure how you can use 3 transducers with a single unit (L & R imaging transducers with a separate dual spectrum transducer).

Well as it seems I've done too god of a job house cleaning my PC.
Not only can I not, find a pic of the rear of my boat showing what you are asking but, I also cannot find the pic showing my set up from the other web site where Wayne and HB Greg used to reside many years in the past.
Wayne, any help?

Did you have both cables connected before going to the unit?  The part I'm not sure about is whether you can connect those two cables together.  I know Wayne from another forum and not sure he monitors this one.  If Ricky or Wayne doesn't respond here, I'll try and get an answer in the other forum (BBC).

Ok, here's the input from Wayne.  Those are the correct numbers for the cables.  The transom mounted Dual Spectrum transducer is XNT 14 HW T. The part that I was unsure of is if you can connect those two cables and Wayne confirmed as indicated below.  Hope this helps.

From Wayne:  You connect the SILR Y cable to SI side of the SIDB Y cable and connect the Dual Spectrum to the 2D side of the SIDB Y cable.
Connect the two SI transducers to the SILR Y cable,.

Thank you Ez for reaching out for me!

I don't know how I found this but here maybe the answer to how I hooked my currant config up. The following link is the original forum chatter 7 years ago on a website that no longer exists to my knowledge.

Glad you found the reference.  Installation concerns would be the same today except for newer hardware.  Good luck and enjoy those new finders.
