Post by: haggy38 on March 21, 2011, 03:54:46 PM
Hi Guys, I bought  the Humminbird Weather Sense™ Monitor for my 898C SI unit, and is not working well, as soon I turn on my unit it says in connected and in 5,10,30 minutes it says disconnected, then connected and then disconnected again in different timing, The connections are good and don't know what to do, hope you can help. :-[

Hi Chuck, it's intermittent between connected and disconnected in different timing , is this normal?

Gustavo

This is not normal.
Could something be blocking the receiver for WXS. Sometimes it is and sometimes it is not.  Where is the receiver located...

Hi,
You might want to try changing the Weather Sense Module battery (I believe it is a 2032 disc - you have to take the back cover off the unit to change it) and see if that helps.

Take care,
Roger

Does anyone know the satelite number for Wx Sense signal?  Or how many satelites provide the XM information.

I think there is some confusion here.

'Weather Sense' is just a barometric pressure reading device that you buy once and hook up to your system and there are no further charges.  It does not use any Satellites.

'XM Sirius Weather' is what uses the Weather satellites, which has a monthly service charge.  You have to purchase the XM weather module, plug it into your system, and contact Sirius to activate it.

If you are talking about 'Weather Sense', then I agree that you should check the battery in the device.

The manual says CR2450 or equivalent, it suppose to be installed shielded from direct sunlight, I don't think it connects to any satellite right?

This is my unit.

Yes Gustavo,
You are correct.  It does not use any satellites.
It only reads local (i.e. - where it is physically located) barometric pressure.
You have to spend more money to use satellites. :)
