Off The Shelf Solution For 597 and 998
« on: January 15, 2015, 09:06:10 PM »
After upgrading my aluminum fishing boat's console mounted 597ci di hd with XNT-9-20-T transducer to a 998hd si with the XHS-9-HDSI-180-T transducer, I am hoping there are off-the-shelf cables and unit configurations to accomplish the following:

Both transducers are transom mounted one to either side of my outboard.  As mentioned, the 998 is mid-hull in the console.  I want to mount the 597 on my stern rod rack where I will use 2d and di while controlled drifting on the river.  I'd like to cable so that the 998 is using the HDSI transducer for si/di, but is using the XNT transducer for 2D sonar/depth reading while running at speed.  It would also be great if I could leave both units running without having to power down one or the other to avoid interference.

So, summary is  HDSI transducer to 998 for si/di,  XNT transducer to 998 for 2d/depth and to 597 for 2d/di  all at the same time.  Possible?  which cables/wiring?

Thanks in advance.

1st let's clarify something ...

The 597ci HD DI should have come with the XNT 9 DI T ...
200kHz/455kHz 2d - 455kHz/800kHz DI ...

The 597ci HD (2d only) would come with the XNT 9 20 T ...
200kHz/83kHz 2d - no DI ...

Which do you have ...??

Be advised that the XNT 9 DI T will work on the 998 ... But only so-so ...

If you still want to proceed ... I will see what kind of cable configuration we can come up with ...

thank you for the leg work...I think until new electronics all around are in my budget I'll be best served just keeping the two units and their transducers separate from one another.
However...when controlled drifting and only watching the 597 at the back of the boat, will placing the 998 in demo mode be sufficient to keep its' transducer from interfering with the 597's?
Is there an even faster/easier way to keep the 998 powered on but not interfering?

Press the Power button while in Normal ... Choose "Sonar Off" ...

This will allow you to still use the GPS and mapping as a Chartplotter unit ...

I would 1st try with both units running and see what happens ... You may get lucky...

You can also try turning On and Up the "Noise Filter" under the Sonar tab ... This may eliminate any crosstalk interference ...
