Depth readings and transducer mounts
« on: November 28, 2011, 08:55:25 AM »
I recently bought a 788ci hd di. I'm having issues with consistent depth readings at speeds above trolling and any speed in choppy/rough conditions.  I've included some pics of the new transducer mount of the left and the old transducer on the right from my 565 unit.   I've tinkered with running both units off the old transducer  (920xnt) and the new transducer.    The new transducer finally started getting consistent botom readings trolling (1-2mph) after I  changed the surface clutter setting to 0.    Any thoughts on changing transducer placement?
Its bad luck to be superstitious.

For readings in choppy/rough water you best bet is to get the transducer farther down into the water.  From the pictures that you have posted that looks to mean moving the transducer farther to towards the center of the hull and lowering it as well.
