997csi is becoming slowwwwwwww
« on: September 14, 2014, 08:33:24 AM »
My 997 c si is becoming very slow, it takes about 10 seconds to load maps, about 5 seconds to delete waypoints, it seems to act like an old out dated computer.

If I run a lakemaster map on it takes forever to load so I just stick to Navionics maps.

The last update I did to it slowed it right up so I went back to the previous update.

I have a couple thousand waypoints on it could this be the issue?

Time to upgrade to an onix but I want to wait until they get any bugs out of the first run of onix fish finders.

Clear the Current Track under the Nav tab at least once per day ...

Also...to test if the current number of waypoints is slowing the unit down ...

*Export the Nav data to a formatted SD Card  ...
*Download the Nav data to HBPC for verification that the waypoints are safely in a backup location...
*Delete all Nav data from the unit...(newer software versions call this Format Nav Directories)...
*Test the unit now with no Nav data in the unit memory...

That many waypoints can slow down the 997 units.

Be sure and open those waypoints in HBPC before you delete them from the unit...

There's nothing worse than finding out there's a problem with the SD Card and your "un-backed up" waypoints cannot be retrieved...

That makes for a bad day ...
