That depends on which kit you get which also depends on what Humminbird equipment you tell tham you have.

Currently all kits have: Trolling Motor Choke, and Power Cbale with Choke.  They may also include a Copper (was Nickel but we switched for easier manufacturing) coated HDSi transducer and/or Ferrite Rings (for the InterLink module).

Thanks Greg,

The reason I asked was that they sent me a new TM Transducer (which I did not expect), but there was not a choke or any other RFI reduction devices.

George,
Try the transducer out and if it doesn't do the job call them back for the other parts.

Greg,

What is the part number for a RF noise reduction kit for the 1197c si unit? I am looking to purchase the new HDSi transducer that has the built-in copper shielding for my towfish.

Thanks,
Keith

Keith,
You don’t have to buy the RF noise reduction kit just to get the copper coated HDSi transducer as we have been building everyone of them that way since about August of 2008.

Thanks Greg... What does the RF noise reduction kit offer over just the transducer? I already have chokes installed in the power cables.

BTW, is the 455/262 KHz transducer built with the same kind of shielding?

I am currently using the 455/262 KHz  transducer in my towfish and am experiencing RF noice when I start my genset. I have isolated the 1197c from onboard power by using a stand-alone battery, but that did not help. I am using high grade Belden cable as suggested by HB but noise is still getting in.

Any suggestions?

Keith

It would depend on which interference kit you get Keith.  Some have either:
 - the Trolling Motor Choke, the PC-11 Power Cable and Ferrrite Rings (no transducer)
 - the Trolling Motor Choke, the PC-11 Power Cable, Ferrrite Rings and the XHS-9-HDSi-180-T transducer
- the Trolling Motor Choke, the PC-11 Power Cable and the XHS-9-HDSi-180-T transducer (no Ferrite Rings)

Yes the XHS-9-Si-180-T (262/455kHz) transducer is built with the same copper coated housings as the HDSi transducers are.

I would try building a grounded shield around the genset if at all possible.  This could be something like a piece of bent tin with a grounding wire.  Keep the unit, towfish and all cables as far away from the genset as possible.

Josh,
The trolling motor noise reduction kits are only available through Humminbird (and maybe Minn Kota).  Just call the Humminbird Customer Resource folks at 1-800-633-1468 and ask about them.

As for extending the power wires for the 798 unit.  The PC-11 that goes to that unit is 18 gauge wire.  I always go up a gauge size if I have to run extension wires, due to the drop in voltage over distance.  So I would look for a 16 gauge multi stranded wire (my Nephew-in-law uses outdoor grade extension cords for this).
