RECONER, Every thing you need to install the unit on your boat.

Comtrol unit, transducer, mount, electric dc wires, GPS ant, Nuts, bolts and screws.

Soms units come with a CD with the install info on it. Call Humminbird for a hard copy.

Good luck and enjoy.  Roddy

There is now a lot of information teaching us how to get the most out of our units.  The Humminbird is an investment that even though it is simple operate there is a lot to learn to get the maximum benefits from it.  Doug Vahrenberg has a 9 part seminar that will help you to get the most out of your unit.  Doug's videos use an 1197 for demonstration but it covers all of the basics.  You should spend some time reviewing them, I have watched them several times.

I'm want to buy a 898c SI Combo for my trolling motor. On Humminbird's site, it shows this unit w/XHS-9-HDSI-180-Y transducer to be used on the transom. To buy a 898c SI Combo with the correct transducer for the trolling motor (XTM-9-HDSI-180-T)...is this a special order only from Humminbird?

We do not package the units that way Irish Rover.  You may be able to find a retailer who will swap the transducer out for you or perhaps buy a CHO version (same unit but comes without the transducer) and also buy the trolling motor transducer but it will be more expensive to do so.  I would just buy the unit (with the transom transducer) and either try and have the transducer exchanged through Humminbird (call the Customer Resource folks for this) or but an adapter.  We make an adapter for this (in fact this is what the XTM-9-HDSi-180-T transducer is: a transom transducer but with the adapter in place of the transom mounting hardware) but so do other companies like Transducer Shield & Saver (and their adapter helps protect the expensive transducer…).

Thanks Greg, I just contacted Humminbird & they gave me all of the information they'll need when I send the transom transducer back to them. They will then send me the trolling motor transducer at no extra charge. I've used the Humminbird customer service reps in the past and they are very knowledgeable, they give you all of the info you need and respond very quickly when shipping replacement parts and/or repairs.
