Title: Helix g2n temp sensor issue
Post by: dcontosbass on April 03, 2019, 08:17:52 PM
Having an issue with my g2n helix 12...  I bought it used from a reputable guy.  The way I received it was as if it was never installed (software wise)

The issue is that it does not receive any data from the temp sensor yet the transducer is fine. In the Networking Diagnostic view it also does not see (txt is black and you cannot scroll through them) any of the attached accessories. Yet the front graph (ethernet networked) reads its temp sensor and in the Net. Diag. view you can see the attached stuff on it... I can set the back graph up to read temp from the front but I want to know water temp as soon as the boat hits the water without dropping the T.M.

The box where the temp is displayed does just not appear until a few minutes after power up and then flashes crazy temps below zero in Farenheit...

Cable does not appear damaged. Any suggestions? Thank you. Derek

You might try resetting the ip.addresses  ...

1.  Power both units on and give them several minutes to complete power-up
2.  Disconnect the ethernet cable and then reset defaults on each unit.
3.  Turn the units off.
4.  Power the units back on and let them power up completely.
5.  Reset defaults and then turn the units off.
6.  While power is off, reconnect ethernet cable.
7.  Power on primary unit and let it completely boot up before powering on the next unit

Hey thank you Rickie.  Did exactly as you instructed and it worked. But after I fished for about an hour and I hopped behind the steering console again the temp. box was gone. Repowerd the unit and its still gone. No crazy flashing temps, just no box at all. It just shows speed and depth. Same thing in the accessories networking view... Temp sensor unattached.

When it did read the temp I do believe it was correct. Its like it wants to forget there is a temp sensor.
