Trolling motor transducer
« on: February 11, 2014, 05:02:12 PM »
I think I have seen this discussed before but I have a 798ci  with the SI compact transducer and was wanting to exchange it for a trolling motor one. Are the crystals the same in both and is the trolling motor one just as good?   Looks like it is a available for the exchange program HB has.

I'm pretty sure SI crystals are the same for the stock XNT 9 SI 180 T (Compact SI)..and the TM puck style XTM 9 SI 180 T...

Some have opted to trade for the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T ...which has longer SI crystals...which should give sharper SI images..

The XHS 9 HDSI 180 T can operate at 455kHz and 800kHz ...but your 798 can only transmit the 455kHz frequency...but it still may be worthwhile to get the longer crystals...

The HDSI also comes in a TM version....which is basically the transom HDSI with hardware to adapt to the TM...

Transducer Shield and Saver makes an aftermarket sturdy bracket for the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T to mount to the TM...

Rickie is correct : the transom mounted XNT-9-Si-180-T transducer and the Trolling Motor mounted XTM-9-Si-180-T transducer both use the same elements for the Si/Di sonar (and the 2D sonar).
