SI and the effect of chart speed and boat speed
« on: May 30, 2011, 10:14:40 PM »
I have read that slowing down the chart speed will increase the amount of structure detail shown on the SI display.

Is there a general rule of thumb to use between boat speed and chart speed or does it not matter?

I have read on this forum that you should match your chart speed with the speed of your boat.I seem to get the best images when I'm going between 3 and 4 MPH.So i will either set my chart speed to 3 or 4.....I'm far from an expert but this has worked for me... ;D

Boat speed = chart speed is a good place to start. ( @ 3,4 or 5 MPH range ) Adjust each a little at a time to see what works for you.
It is also important to travel in a straight line.
