1198C SI Down imaging
« on: July 07, 2013, 05:39:58 PM »
Can anyone tell me why I can't get down imaging to show hardly anything? Whiling looking @ a brushpile on 2D sonar, nothing is showing up on down imaging. I feel like I've been through and adjusted all the settings.

Thanks,

Michael

Welcome to the Side Imaging Forums MAANDERS.

What do you have the Down Imaging Beam Width menu set to?
Try setting it to the “Wide” setting.

I adjusted to 455, and used the wide setting. I did see a little better with the down imaging. I'm not sure if I can take a snapshot of a brushpile on down imaging. I haven't tried that. But I also wanted to ask if I should expect a better side image of a brushpile. Attached are two images of brushpiles that I planted this year. They are around 20-25' deep. Maybe i'm expecting too much. Thanks again for all your help!

Got a picture of what the brushpile looked like before you sunk it?
I ask because small leafless or less dense objects do not reflect a lot of sonar and would be hard to see.

On your Di, using the 455khz  i recommend to try turning the contrast down.it seems to me by turning contrast down it shows more detail of structure up in the water column and by turning the contrast up it shows more detail of the bottom.Ofcorse  you still need to adjust sensitivity to your liking  but once you have it set you should be able to for the most part leave it alone.this is his i do it anyways.hope that helps you some..if your looking for fish in the water column the 800 will show them
