999ci HD si transducer and trim tabs
« on: November 02, 2015, 07:37:47 PM »
I own a 22' Skeeter bay it has trim tabs  and I was wondering if the SI. would be affected by the trim tabs. Thanks

As the SI sound pulse reaches all the way to the water's surface ...there is a possibility of blockage from trim tabs ...

If you can get the HDSI xducer low enough ...it may be possible to clear under the trim tabs ...

Or you can opt for the dual HDSI xducer setup with the AS SILR Y cable ... Which may allow a better option of getting the SI sound pulse to clear under the trim tabs ...

Can you post a pic of the back of your boat ...??

I'll take one tonight I'm new to the forum and not sure how to post pics yet. I think I only have one choice if only running a single transducer, the transom is loaded down. 1, Swim platform 2. jack plate, 3. led lights, not excited about running dual transducers and if I did where would they go outside the trim tabs? The problem with the tabs are they are located at water level, I have room under the jackplate for the transducer could I add a spacer to drop down the level and hope for the best? The skeeter has a section that has numerous drains I might be able to squeeze it in between one of them but it will be tight if it fits.   Thanks for the help,

Let's see the back of the boat before we make any definite decisions ...

There are mounting brackets with extensions made for jack plates at Transducer Shield and Saver ...

thanks for the post it got me searching the shield and jackplate mount, I followed the string test they recommended and called and got jackplate mount and spacer on order. Bonus no drilling in the boat and I'll get a clear shot on the side and bottom. ;)

Rickie do you know anything about the wireless remote? The 999ci came with one however It has a internal gps so do I just leave that hook up off? The instructions shows a control unit or GPS I have neither, saw a youtube video and it looks like he let one end disconnected. I plan on calling Hummingbird today to ask them what to do

Thanks I saw that the other night but it isn't detailed enough. I'm going to call tech support today, my parts are coming in today so can't wait to get the 999 install and on the water. Thanks for the help
