997 has forgetten it is a SI unit
« on: May 19, 2013, 06:39:53 PM »
I have a 997 that has 175 hrs on it. I turned it on today and anything that has to do with SI is not there. Not a word of SI is mentioned on any screen.  It's like it woke up and decided it would no longer do SI.

All of my waypoints are there and the basic bottom machine works, although the screenshot is as basic pixel wise as a $200 dollar unit.  All of the diagnostic screens are there and show no error.  Software is 4.75.

Did I flick a setting or did it crash??

Thanks for any and all help

I would check the Transducer Select menu and make sure that it is still on the Hi-Def Sidescan setting.
If that does not help try using the Restore Defaults menu.
If that brings no joy, try loading a newer version of software.
If all else fails you can try contacting Humminbird about getting it fixed.

I'll try the 1st 3....I have no idea why I don't get the email for the software up dates anymore.

Thanks for the reply.

To get the machine to the proper software version do I have to load every update individually or can I go directly to the latest?

You can load just the most recent software.  It contains all of the changes/updates from all previous versions.

I’m guessing that you do not get any email about software updates because the last one for the 997 units was back in October of 2010 (6.300 version).

All is good now...I had to restore defaults and install the update. It's like a new machine, thanks!
