Quadrabeam Plus & 898csi

Is it possible to add Quadrabeam Plus to my 898csi?  If so, what does it take?

Yes you can.  Just plug up the transducer to the unit and set the Connected Transducer (this menu could also be called the Transducer Select menu depending on your unit and what software it is running) to the Quad Beam setting.

Why would you want to do this, how are you planning on using it?  The Si sonar will give you better coverage of the water.

I did not realize that I could not use my SI if I use quadrabeam. My question was to "add" the function. Since I have to choose, I prefer to the SI.  Thanks for your prompt response. It answered my question.

Just as an FYI for others that may be wanting to use a QuadraBeam transducer with their Si model units:

 - You can use a QuadraBeam transducer as a stand-alone transducer for these units.  Just select the “Quad Beam” setting for the Connected Transducer (or Transducer Select) menu.  This will tell the unit to add the Side Beam View (this is the QuadraBeam transducers sonar View) and any associated menus.  It will also take away the Si and Di sonar Views and menus.

 - If you use the QuadraBeam transducer in place of the DualBeam transducer when using an AS-Si-DB-Y cable, the QuadraBeam’s extra Side Beams will not be connected to your Si unit and it will act just like a DualBeam transducer (only the 2D sonar element will be connected to the unit).

 - If you use a QuadraBeam transducer with a Transducer Switch (TS3), than you will be able to use the full functionality of the QuadraBeam transducer but will have to not only toggle the Transducer Switch; but also change the Connected Transducer (Transducer Select) menu setting when you switch back and forth between the QuadraBeam and Si transducers.
