I guess I should have thought of this first, but anyway.
I got a 598ci hd si as a gift at the end of February. First thing I done was send the stock transducer in to upgrade to an xtm 9 HDSI 180 T. I called a few days ago to see when to expect the new one and was told there on back order, and probably won't be shipped till Tuesday the 25th at the earliest.
While I'm waiting, I decided to do a few things to the bow of the boat and also get everything ready for the install when I get the new transducer.
It just dawned on me that my motor looks different for some reason.

First I would like to know if there are different motor housings on the terrova?
Does it look like I will have a problem installing the xtm 9 HDSI 180 t on this motor?
My motor is a terrova 55lb thrust with a 45" shaft. I bought it new last spring from bbg marine.

Steve, I have the same motor, but without US2. Maybe the skeg looks a little different with the US2. Anyways I did some measuring for you. The HDSI ducer is 6" long. The Compact HDSI is 3.5" long. The reason I went with the compact SI on my motor is because I thought that the clearances were just too tight to try and squeeze the HDSI in there. I took some motor measurements for you. Hopefully it is easy to understand. From black line(tip of skeg) to the red line(end of housing) you are right at 5". From black to green line (leading edge of prop) you have just at 6" clearance. If you push the nose of the ducer up past the black line, you can fit the ducer in there without hitting prop at all, but now you have the ducer just above the angle of the skeg, and the tail end of the ducer just in front of the prop (literally). So you could make it fit, but Im not sure what kind of readings you would expect. Either way, good luck and let us know how it goes.

I doubt there would be any blockage if the HDSI were tucked all the way up the back of the skeg...
The SI piezoes are pointing outward ...and the 2d piezo is far enough back from the front edge of the housing for clearance past the skeg ...
You could try it and test...

Out in the garage on the work bench is a new Minn Kota Maxxum 55# bow mount TM. I am installing one of my new 1199's at the bow with
the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T transducer. I called Transducer S&S to make sure I purchased the correct Shield. Good move. They said that this TM
requires a modified Shield. They sent me the model TM-HDsi modified + strip. The modified + strip is a 1/4"x1"x6" spacer attached to the top
of the Shield. My guess is this is to allow for the step between the motor and the housing that the skeg is attached to. I went out and assembled
everything before this post. It does fit. There is about 3/8" space between the back edge of the Shield and the leading edge of the prop.
My heart rate took a noticeable jump when I initially held the Shield in place as the rear slot for the straps looks to be too far back. It looked
like the strap was going to hit the leading edge of the prop. After assembly, the prop turns OK.
I didn't put the transducer in the housing as I my swap it for a XTM 9 HDSI 180 T if it has additional shielding for interference.

I'll take pictures and post when the wife gets her new camera. She dropped the old one. No give in concrete. Shattered the screen.

That rivet looking thing would be the temperature probe at the back of the HDSI housing...

The XHS-9-HDSi-180-T and XTM-9-HDSi-180-T transducer are the same exact transducer but are shipped out with different mounting hardware. I don’t know what hardware comes with the TS&S adapter brackets but you may have everything you need to install (and take pics with that new camera) it now.

Great people to work with.
The motors with the skeg behind the Shield & Saver apparently DON’T have to use the strip according to the picture on the back of the card.
Check to make sure.

If your still reading, the replacement transducer is $270.00. So it's like the mechanic says "pay me now or pay me later". If it was me later, I would spring

Mike, that sounds like a high price for that spring back bracket, but as an aluminum boat owner, I know how frustrating it can be. I'm just glad there is another option if it is necessary. Im sure there will be high speed side imaging and shoot thru the hull SI beams in our future anyways.......

I've be lucky...so far. A few near misses. Stumps, floating logs, gravel bars at low water, etc. It was getting to "when", not "if" that transducer was
going to get whacked. I created a mounting system that I thought might offer some protection when it happened. Hoping the wood would give before

I get delusional at times, but I thought it would work, and it did. I've just pushed my luck as for as I'm going to now that the correct product
is available.
