598 ci HD si down image interpretation
« on: May 06, 2014, 08:50:49 AM »
Why do I see images of fish trees etc below the bottom on DI? Im on a fairly flat bottom in 12 FOW in the 20ft range. Gain around 15.

Because of the width of the sonar beams that are being used to develop the Di sonar image.  This is telling you that the fish, tree, etc. is farther away from the transducer than the lake bottom is.

You can change this some by selecting a different setting on the Down Imaging Beam Width menu.
