Topic: Nitro 750 Transducer Location

Anyone familiar with the Nitro 750 NX? I have no idea where to put my 798's ducer without adding a jackplate. Any advice would be great! or else I have to take it back.

Welcome to the forum.  Most likely you will need to either mount it down near the drain plug or up on the step and put a second transducer in for better 2d readings at higher speeds.

If you could post a couple pictures of your transom from the rear and side we can help you find the best location.

Check out some of the images in the Image Gallery for some ideas.

This is a good example of the type of step I have in my transom. Mine may even be slightly wider. If I put my ducer where the end of it would protrude beyond the transom by an 1" and pushed as far right of the motor as possible would that setup be problematic?

I would definately move the transduce to the right or left.  However that could tend to have interference with the element that is pointing to the motor.
These bigfoot HDSI transducer are very sensitive to location by boat type.
Here is hoping someone with a similiar boat can post pictures of where they have located the ducer.

I can tell ya from experience, the pic of that mount is where i ended up on my 882 nitro.  I had it mounted off to the right and my left side scan was picking up the jack plate.  You wont get high speed of course but i moved it and took it out today and it worked perfect.  just my 2 cents.  I have pic on another thread of where it was mounted.

Thank god you guys all post pictures of your setups! It really helps...Here is exactly what Im talking about. Does this allow for high speed 2-d? or is an extra 2-d ducer needed

Great Pictures!!! This is what I'm planning on doing on my 750 now that someone else has had success with that location.

 Did your friend need an additional ducer for highspeed depth/2-d?

These are the pictures of Mirko Civinini, in Italy. He has the same doubt as soon as he bought his 998. I think that the original idea was of Fabio Sergenti another guys who has the same configuration on another Nitro 750.

So, in Italy, we have two Nitros 750 with this ducer set up.

If I mounted my HDSi transducer there I would use one of the mounting adapter brackets from Transducer Shield & Saver as they are designed for this.  Installing the standard hardware like that could cause problems as it will likely move at the black plastic Pivot Arm to metal mounting bracket junction.  Did Mirko change the hardware used at this junction?  I would worry about the transducer breaking (and eating a prop!) at this junction.

The ducer2.jpg image you posted may work well for the Si sonar but not for high-speed depth readings.  I would also worry about it making an air cavitation bubble in front of the cooling water intake for the motor as well as the prop.

I don't know Greg . The problem is that we do not have T&S in Italy. I bought it through my brother, who lives in Baltimora.
I'll report your worryes to Fabio and Mirko.
