XM Weather receiver?
« on: August 17, 2012, 12:53:52 PM »
I got my XM Weather receiver installed and working, currently I only have the Contour XD base map. My question is if I had a Navionics chip is that the map that would be used on the weather view if I had that selected as chart in the HB unit (998CSI)?

Jim Jack

I have a Navionics Platinum Card and the XM Weather receiver did not use the Navionics charts.

Jim Jack, The Navionics Card overrides the base map as long as you are within the limits of the card.  :)The XM Weather "should" show overlayed on the Navionics Card map.

All of mine do! ;D

Navionics platinum on my 1197 shows low resolution on weather views. Not a problem for me.

I have XM weather on my 1197 and I'm not sure if
it uses the Navionics map or not.

It really doesn't matter.
It shows your boat icon and the approaching weather.
You can tell for sure if you are in the danger zone.
You don't need to see 1 foot lake depth contours when looking
at approaching weather.
It's enough to know that you need to move or not.
